The Federal Capital Territory Command of the Federal Fire Service has assured residents of Abuja of faster responses to fire incidents and other emergencies.

The assurance was given on Thursday by the FCT Controller of the Federal Fire Service, Suleiman Anas, during the decoration ceremony of 733 officers recently promoted within the command.

Anas described the number of promoted officers as the highest recorded since the establishment of the FCT Command, noting that the development would significantly improve morale and service delivery.

He explained that promotions serve as a major welfare incentive and morale booster, adding that the exercise would further strengthen the commitment of personnel to protecting lives and property across the FCT.

According to him, officers of the command are highly motivated and ready to give their full commitment to emergency response duties, assuring residents that response times would become even faster.

He urged residents to remain safety conscious and to promptly contact emergency numbers whenever incidents occur, stressing that early alerts help ensure quicker intervention.

Anas listed the beneficiaries of the promotion exercise, including three officers elevated from Chief Superintendent of Fire to Assistant Controller, 36 from Superintendent of Fire to Chief Superintendent of Fire, 22 from Deputy Superintendent of Fire to Superintendent of Fire, 547 from Assistant Superintendent of Fire I to Deputy Superintendent of Fire, 46 from Assistant Superintendent of Fire II to Assistant Superintendent of Fire I, and 79 from Inspector of Fire to Assistant Superintendent of Fire II.

He congratulated the promoted officers while reminding them that the new ranks come with increased responsibilities and the need for improved performance and dedication.

Anas also disclosed that the promotion exercise would be followed by internal redeployments within the command to enhance operational efficiency.

He added that a recent nationwide promotion exercise approved by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board saw thousands of senior officers promoted across the paramilitary agencies, including the Fire Service.
