L.A.X - IYAWO ft. DOTTi The Deity | MP3 Audio Download

The Yoruba word “Iyawo” translates to wife or bride, giving the record a title closely associated with marriage and relationships. The collaboration is particularly interesting because DOTTi draws heavily from Yoruba folk traditions, while L.A.X has built much of his career around contemporary Afrobeats and Afropop.

The pairing introduces an interesting musical contrast, with L.A.X known for his melodic approach and DOTTi recognised for incorporating soul, jazz and traditional Nigerian influences into his work. Their different artistic backgrounds provide an appealing foundation for the recording.

For L.A.X, working with an artist outside his usual Afropop circle creates an opportunity to reach listeners who appreciate both mainstream African music and culturally rooted songwriting. His established catalogue and recognition across the Afrobeats scene could also help the collaboration gain wider attention.
