Phyno - Kriptonite ft. Chike | MP3 Audio Download

The song explores the vulnerability that can accompany romantic attraction, with Phyno taking a more affectionate direction in his songwriting. Chike contributes expressive singing, complementing the rapper’s delivery as the recording addresses the influence that strong feelings can have on someone’s behaviour.

Its musical presentation favours a measured pace and a softer vocal arrangement, allowing the performers to approach the romantic subject without the aggression associated with harder rap recordings. Chike’s melodic contribution provides a contrast to Phyno’s distinctive voice, giving the collaboration an R&B-influenced character.

Although indigenous rap remains central to his identity, Phyno has regularly explored other musical directions throughout his career. This collaboration adds another relationship-focused recording to that catalogue, potentially attracting listeners who appreciate the more melodic aspects of his work.
