Umhlekisi - Intecijile | MP3 Audio Download
The October 2026 EP A Pledge concludes with “Intecijile”, a new Maskandi recording from South African singer Umhlekisi, whose catalogue remains closely connected to traditional Zulu music.
The release follows his 2025 album 45 Minutes, continuing his commitment to indigenous South African music. Through Maskandi, Umhlekisi maintains a tradition where personal expression, cultural identity and everyday experiences play important roles in songwriting.
Musically, the song belongs to the guitar-centred Maskandi tradition, a genre recognised for its distinctive rhythmic patterns and expressive vocal storytelling. This musical background has shaped much of his recording career, allowing him to maintain a connection with the sound familiar to his established listeners.
Meanwhile, Maskandi has continued attracting attention from younger South African audiences alongside its longtime followers. With several albums already in his catalogue, Umhlekisi has an established foundation for reaching listeners interested in contemporary recordings rooted in traditional music.
The song is available across major digital streaming platforms. Give it a listen and share your thoughts in the comments below.
