Darkoo has built much of her recent catalogue around fluid movement between Afrobeats, Afroswing and rap, while Asake arrives with his recognisable melodic approach. Their pairing brings together two Nigerian-rooted artists whose careers have developed through distinctly different routes.

The collaboration follows Darkoo’s $exy Girl $ummer (Vol. 1) project, which arrived in 2025 and included records such as “Focus On Me” and “Favourite Girl”. Her subsequent releases have continued that collaborative streak rather than leaving the project as an isolated chapter.
