Ademola Lookman appears set to bring his time at Atalanta to an end, with developments around his future pointing strongly towards a move during the January 2026 transfer window. Talks surrounding the Nigerian forward have progressed rapidly in recent days, placing a transfer firmly within reach.

Reports indicate that Lookman has reached an agreement on personal terms with Spanish giants Atletico Madrid, clearing a major hurdle in negotiations. The forward is understood to be open to the switch and has given his approval after revised contract terms were presented and accepted.

At club level, Atletico Madrid have reportedly seen their improved offer accepted by Atalanta. The proposal is believed to be worth €35 million, with a further €5 million included as performance-related add-ons. With both clubs now aligned on the financial package, only final procedural steps remain before the deal can be completed.

The latest breakthrough follows earlier interest from Turkish side Fenerbahce, whose initial approach was turned down by Atalanta. The Italian club were said to favour a deal that offered greater financial assurance, a condition Atletico Madrid’s bid ultimately satisfied.

If finalised, the move would mark a significant step in Lookman’s career, handing him the opportunity to test himself in La Liga after his productive spell in Serie A.
