Victony – STARLIFE (Album)

After the introspection that shaped Stubborn and Very Stubborn, Nigerian singer Victony enters a freer and more self-assured phase on STARLIFE, his 15-track sophomore album.

Victony describes this chapter as one of “becoming”, and that idea runs through a project less occupied with explaining past struggles and more interested in personality, confidence, pleasure and the life unfolding around him. He also gives his rap instincts more room alongside the melodic delivery that has become central to his music.

R&B forms a noticeable part of the album’s musical DNA, sitting alongside Afrobeats, hip-hop and Amapiano influences. Ozedikus plays an important role in the creative direction, while Shay “Gideon” Royale and Elochukwu Ububa serve as executive producers. The production generally leaves enough space for Victony’s voice, cadences and understated ad-libs to remain prominent.

The guest list is selective rather than excessive, bringing in BNXN, Blaqbonez, YKB, Babyboy AV, Young Jonn and FOLA across five collaborations. Their appearances fit an album Victony has described as intentionally collaborative, with features chosen according to the energy each record required.

STARLIFE feels like a deliberate change of posture, less concerned with proving endurance and more comfortable enjoying what that endurance has produced. The album is available across major digital streaming platforms.
